Last November 10th, UTEK made available to the Valenciaport Foundation, and in collaboration with the company ATEINCO, its unmanned vessel to perform underwater threat detection tests, included in Activity 1 (Protection and safety of the coast) within the PICASSO Project (Prevention of incidents and accidents by Saffer Ships in the Oceans)
To carry out the tests, a 3D sonar was installed in USV Kaluga to obtain HD images of a possible underwater threat. This threat was simulated with submerged elements at different depths.
One of the most immediate applications is the detection of divers in critical infrastructures.
The results obtained and the conclusions were presented on November 22nd in Valencia during the event organized by Fundación Valenciaport, Salvamento Marítimo (The Spanish Maritime Safety and Rescue Agency), and Magellan, within the framework of the PICASSO Project.
